As April rolls around, it is time for our second Tarlton Talk of the semester. This time, Professor Thomas McGarity will speak with us about his research and his newest book, Freedom to Harm: The Lasting Legacy of the Laissez Faire Revival (2013).
Professor McGarity is a leading scholar in the fields of administrative law and environmental law. He teaches courses on Torts, Environmental Law, and Food Safety Law and is the immediate past president of the Center for Progressive Reform. In addition to Freedom to Harm, Professor McGarity’s books include Bending Science: How Special Interests Corrupt Public Health Research (2008) (co-author), Workers at Risk (1993) (co-author), The Law of Environmental Protection (1991) (co-author), and Reinventing Rationality: The Role of Regulatory Analysis in the Federal Bureaucracy (1991).
