Seminar Nov. 14th and 15th: Joe Crotty Sensei

Joe Crotty Sensei, Co-chief Instructor of AIA, will be visiting to lead a two day seminar Nov. 14th and 15th.
Crotty Sensei, 7th Dan, is the chief instructor of hand arts for Seidokan Aikido. He is also co-chief instructor at the Seidokan headquarters dojo in Eagle Rock, California. He has studied Aikido for 32 years, 18 of which directly under Kobayashi Sensei, the founder of Seidokan Aikido. In addition, he holds Godan rank in Iaido.
Crotty Sensei’s Aikido practice emphasizes the strict training of fundamentals. Working towards the physical perfection of technique places our bodies in the best position to allow Aikido principles to flow; not just on the mat but in all aspects of our lives.
Schedule:
Saturday, November 14
- 10:15am – 12:30pm Seminar
- 1:00pm – 2:00pm Lunch with Sensei, at Ruby’s BBQ, 512 W 29th Street at Guadalupe.
- 2:30pm – 4:30ish Seminar
- 7:00 – 10:00pm – Casual dinner with Crotty Sensei at Brent’s house. Spouses & friends welcome!
Sunday, November 15
- 12:30 until we’re done (usually between 3:00 and 4:00)
Location:
UT Campus, Belmont Hall #904. The building is the western side of the football stadium complex. Park on San Jacinto or in the “C” lot (but read the signs!). Paid, covered parking is in the Manor garage. The building opens at 10:00 am on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Dojo, Locker room, & shower facilities on the 9th floor, to the left as you exit the elevators.
Admission:
Admission is free for anyone on a tight budget. Donations gladly accepted with a suggestion of $5/session. All Aikido students who know how to safely fall and roll are welcome, regardless of style or affiliation.
Pizza Party this Thursday, Oct. 14th

As is the semesterly tradition, the club will treat members to pizza at Conans this Thursday night. Intermediate/Advanced class will be canceled and everyone will adjourn to Conans at the end of beginning class (8:00 PM). If you do not have transportation you can likely catch a ride with other members of the club, though it is possible to walk to Conans from campus.
