Kevyn and I are attending the Texas Conference on Digital Libraries, hosted at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center.

There were two great keynote speakers:

The opening keynote address was delivered by James Hilton, Chief Information Officer at the University of Virginia and a leader of the Digital Preservation Network (DPN) project to build a federated preservation infrastructure designed to safeguard the digital scholarly record for future generations. The Texas Digital Library, host of TCDL 2012, is a partner on the DPN project.

John P. Wilkin, Executive Director of HathiTrust and Associate University Librarian for Library Information Technology at the University of Michigan, was the closing keynote speaker. Through his work with HathiTrust and other organizations, Wilkin has been involved in several foundational projects to collaboratively build and preserve digitized library collections.

The break out sessions have been great – ranging from collaboration on digital projects to student scholarship. This afternoon we focus on promoting our digital collections!

Our Graduate Assistant, Jessica Higgins, participated in the Poster Minute Madness in support of her group presentation on Enhancing Educational Access to Art.
