City of Austin Launches Footprint Calculator
January 19, 2010 by lentzldThe City of Austin Climate Protection Program launched an online Carbon Footprint Calculator on January 17 to help residential customers determine the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by their daily activities, including energy and water use, waste, modes of transportation and types of food consumed.
Customers can automatically download their electricity, water, wastewater and solid waste information into the application by simply entering their utility bill account number. Along with their carbon footprint score, users can learn practical ways to reduce their emissions throughout the year and participate in a social networking forum, offering open communication about climate change between concerned citizens.
