With spring break fast approaching, travel plans and road trips are on a lot of people’s minds.

One graduate student, Castlen Kennedy, will be taking a road trip this May, but not just any old road trip. Castlen will be conducting her thesis research by examining natural gas as a transportation fuel by driving a Chevy Tahoe converted to use natural gas from Austin to Boston. Along the way, she will explore the fuel cost savings and environmental benefits of a natural gas vehicle, as well as provide personal insights into the possible challenges a driver of a natural gas vehicle may face. Castlen is pursuing a dual master’s degree in Public Affairs and Energy and Earth Resources at UT Austin.
