The Donald D. Harrington Graduate Fellows Program is an Endowment Fellowship that was established by Sybil Harrington as a tribute to her late husband. This Fellows Program supports ambitious, gifted scholars at The University of Texas at Austin. Three out of every four fellowships awarded must go to candidates from outside institutions to increase the diversity of scholarship.

The Harrington Fellowships serve fellows at a level that equals and exceeds that of prestigious, longstanding fellowship programs at other institutions across the globe. Harrington Fellows share their meaningful research with future generations, perpetuating the memory and legacy of Don Harrington. Past and present Graduate Fellows and fellows from the parallel Harrington Faculty Fellows Program attend receptions with the president of the university and informal luncheons that build a sense of community among the scholars.

The University of Texas at Austin has been privileged to be the home of this prestigious fellowship. The Master’s and Doctoral candidates that it supports come from around the world, representing a diverse research background. If you want to know more about the annual fellowship’s availability, view the categories and eligibility on the Graduate School Web site.

Recently, one of the Harrington Graduate Fellows, Steve Parker, doctoral student in the Butler School of Music was selected as the Blanton Museum Artist-in-Resident and has produced two SoundSpace performances at the Blanton.

Ali Khademhosseini is a 2011-2012 Donald D. Harrington Faculty Fellow visiting in the Biomedical Engineering Department in the Cockrell School of Engineering this Fall 2011.
