Welcome to our 2011 Master’s and Doctoral students in the Higher Education Administration Program!  We hosted the Admitted Student’s Day on Friday, April 29 at the UT Campus. Here are some highlights:

  1. Join the List Serv – click the ‘List Serv’ button at the top of this page to join the HEASPA email list serv
  2. Begin looking at the Course Schedule
  3. Check your Registration Information Sheet for registration access times
  4. Search for jobs (full time and graduate assistant)
  5. Read the Master’s Handbook
  6. Read Higher Education Publications – Chronicle of Higher Education & Inside Higher Education
  7. Connect with your cohort and other CUSPA students at Orientation (early August)

Congratulations on your acceptance to the program!  We look forward to Fall 2011!

What does a Graduate Assistant Ombudsperson do?
• Assists students with university-related concerns
• Helps students with problem solving and developing options.
• Serves as a resource for information and to clarify university policy.
• Provides contact information for referrals and, at times, facilitates communication or performs shuttle diplomacy.
• Performs research and analysis of university policy
• Applies Ombuds principles and policies, as outlined by the International Ombudsman Association and the university, to casework and systems feedback

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS) administers Bevonomics, a personal money management education program for the students of UT Austin. This program provides students with information and resource tools to empower themselves to make financially responsible decisions in order to reduce their consumer debt by expanding their understanding of the importance of managing money on a day-to-day basis. Poster displays of original research and Amy’s Ice Cream will be provided for attendees and participants!

Tuesday, 4/5: TRIVIA NIGHT @ Austin Pizza on the Drag
5 pm -7 pm. Please form teams and show up!

Wednesday, 4/6: Interdepartmental Bowling Challenge ­
FREE bowling & Free pizza! Come as a department/team.  Please note – HEASPA won last year!
5pm-7pm, Texas Union Underground

Thursday, 4/7: — Film & Photo Showcase ­ featuring grad student original work
Reception with light refreshments and food beginning at 8 pm in 2.120 SAC.
Film showcase following at 8:30 pm -10 pm, SAC Auditorium.

Friday, 4/8: Graduate Student Assembly Happy Hour
4-6pm, Posse East Bar
