Academic Advisor

Job Duties:
Assist students with decision-making in choosing majors. Guide students in completion of admission requirements for majors. Assist students with course schedules and selection of courses for each semester. Attend orientation sessions to provide advising and give group presentations. Coordinate with other academic units regarding questions or problems students are experiencing. Assist with recruiting and retention initiatives. Provide data regarding number of students advised and other information as requested. Provide clerical and administrative assistance to office.

Advise approximately 400 undergraduate students individually and in groups. Facilitate a weekly First-Year Interest Group seminar. Participate in the planning and implementation of summer orientation activities. Assist with advising assessment initiatives including maintaining the McCombs advising syllabus. Compose and coordinate weekly BBA caseload messages. Serve as the primary contact to a McCombs academic department. Serve as a liaison to student activities and leadership development across the University.
