Each year, the Graduate Student Development Committee in the Office of the Dean of Students facilitates a resume review. If you would like to have your resume reviewed by a professional staff member please send a current copy of your resume to susan@austin.utexas.edu no later than December 14, 2011. One or more professional staff members will review your resume and give you personal feedback at the January, 2012 Graduate Student Development lunch.
Also, for the FIRST TIME, the Office of the Dean of Students will be offering a Reverse Review! Participating graduate students can review and critique the resume of a professional staff member. Additionally, the committee will make every effort to provide you with the resume of a staff member currently working in a student affairs area in which you are interested. To participate in the Reverse Resume Review, please sign up here.
Please contact Susan at susan@austin.utexas.edu if you have any questions about either of these programs.

October is Careers in Student Affairs Month! This is an opportunity for the celebration of student affairs as well as an opportunity to raise awareness about the field. There are local and national resources available through NASPA that offer ways to get connected to the field, whether you are an undergraduate exploring student affairs as a possible career or if you are a graduate student in the field.
You can check out the NASPA CASM website, which is being periodically updated throughout the moth with more ways to get connected and spread the word about student affairs. They are celebrating this month by focusing on four angles: what is student affairs, how the month is being celebrated, an insider’s look into the field, and great resources for aspiring or current members of the community.
At UT, we are lucky to have one of our own Higher Ed students serving as the UT NASPA Graduate Associate, Cecilia Lopez! She is working specifically to document updates and resources about Careers in Student Affairs Month on her blog, which you can access here. She will continue to update after this month on other NASPA-related initiatives that benefit or can be participated in by UT students, administrators, or alumni. Thanks, Cecilia, for being a great ambassador for UT!
