Happy Fall everyone! It’s been a long month, but we’re nearly a third of the way through the fall semester! Here’s what has been going on while we have been terrible bloggers:
HEASPA Fundraiser Success! Thanks to all of you coming out to Austin’s Pizza, we managed to raise $108 to spend on professional development events for the rest of the year. Thank you all so much for your time and generosity, and thanks again to Austin’s Pizza!
This Thursday (September 27), find out more about the inner workings of UT and its plans for the year at President Powers’ State of the University Address. The speech will be held in the B. Iden Payne Theater (in the Winship Building) at 4pm.
Register for the annual Texas Association of College and University Personnel Administrators 2012 Conference! The conference will be held October 14-16 in San Antonio. Click http://tacuspa.camp8.org/registration for more details about registration and events.
And finally, let off some steam with our HEASPA crew at karaoke this Thursday! We’ll be at Rusty’s on 7th street starting at around 9:30 pm. Hope to see you there!
And we promise to do a better job of keeping this dang thing updated!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to support us at Austin’s Pizza last Saturday! Members of HEASPA both old and new were able to meet and mingle, all while helping us raise money for future professional development and other events! We’ll update you all with the final numbers from Austin’s Pizza next week
And now, for the main event! UT Football starts this Saturday with a home game against Wyoming! Hook ‘em horns! We hope all of you were able to attend Gone to Texas, if only to learn some of the more popular cheers and fight songs. Before the game, we invite you to join us at a tailgate thrown by the LBJ School’s Great Tailgate Society. Entrance is $10 and they’ll have food and drinks (of all persuasions) for you to enjoy. The tailgate starts at 4:30pm, with food served at 5:15pm. Just FYI, we hear the food goes fast!
See you all on Saturday! TEXAS! FIGHT! \m/

It’s time again to tailgate – CUSPA style! The set-up is a complete pot-luck. Everyone is responsible for their own food and drink, as well as food and drink for any friends of family you invite. You’re welcome to bring extras to share, but that’s your own call.
We’ll set up in the usual spot located on the Heman Sweatt Campus, so look for the gang out there around 9:15AM. Also, make sure that you bring your own chairs and/or blankets along w/any utensils, cups, and/or napkins you need.
Your things will be safe at the tailgate if you are attending the game so no worries about that. It’s easiest to park on the east side of I-35 by the baseball field or any of the surrounding neighborhoods.
Three cheers for the cooler temps, good eats, and good peeps… and Hook ‘Em Horns!

Howdy and welcome back to what looks like another exciting year on the Forty-Acres! Below are some things that you should check out as we get back into the swing of things:
Gone To Texas
Gone to Texas is a Texas-sized welcome for new students and will take place tonight, Tuesday August 23rd at 8:30 p.m. on the Main Mall (South of the Tower). The event’s theme is inspired by a chapter of Texas history. More than 200 years ago, as adventurers pulled up stakes seeking a fresh start, three letters etched on homestead doors revealed their destination. “GTT” was written on the doors of people indicating they had “Gone to Texas.”
This is a really cool event to attend especially if you are new to the University community; for those HEASPA members that did not attend last year — try to head out tonight, it’s a really unique experience.
The Big Yell
The Big Yell is a celebration of university traditions, songs and long-forgotten cheers and yells. Learn why Longhorns sing “The Eyes of Texas” and how Texas got to be the number one school for student spirit and sport fans.
Recordings of the event will be posted to Web sites and shared with the university community. Along the way there will be Texas tales, T-shirt give-aways, UT fun facts and door prizes. Arrive on time for the organization fair to meet the spirit organizations, who will also be performing skits during the program.
Beloit College’s Mindset List: 2015
This is always a fun way to peek inside the minds of our incoming undergraduates courtesy of Beloit College: http://www.beloit.edu/mindset/2015/
Again, welcome back and best of luck for the upcoming semester!
