Teaching in Norway

 

The research methods class in Norway was fantastic this year!  We had US students involved in addition to the Norwegian and Russian students.  It was very exciting to watch the conversations and friendships develop.  I think we all hope that some international collaborations result from this experience.

 

Norway Summer 2006 Class

When I left industry and began my academic career the one thing I felt I needed was more experience internationally.  I feel so fortunate to get to teach occasionally in Norway.  This is a group of doctoral students from Norway, Russia, and other European countries that come together for an intensive week to learn about research methods. 

If you think we have a lot of distractions when teaching in the US (Facebook, text messages…), try having this view for one wall of your classroom.  It is proof that beauty can be a distraction.

We get to have some fun in between our classes.  Here is a photo of our hot tub and the view from the hotel.  In the other photo we are getting ready to go on Zodiac boats and bounce around the Norwegian seas.  It was a BLAST!
