Week 8: Test 2 and Allocator craziness

Hey,

This week we had test 2. It didn’t go great for me, I was very short of time and didn’t really get a chance to get the last problem taken care off. None of the problem were particularly hard it was just not enough time to get them all done right in my opinion. The first problem threw me off a little bit, I had read the UML paper a few days before the exam and had a hard time recalling and the intricate detail that was asked in the question.

Allocator has a pain full yet rewarding experience, I do think I have a better understanding of pointers and am more comfortable using them coming out of this assignment.

Week 7: Allocator and Function Pointers

Hey

I looking forward to the new project it seems very intense. I also found the implementation of vectors and how they handle the allocator very interesting. But cant think of any reason to want to redefine allocator.

What is the utility to function pointer? the only thing i can think of is passing a compare function to sort function. What would be a practical use for function pointer? They are cool and all but what good are they?

Week 5: Let the fun begin! + Google Wave

Hey

The programming assignments are now starting to get very challenging. Starting with voting, and having had a look at matlab looks like it is going to be a fun week. ;-) Also I excited to get into OOP.

Google Wave is going into extended private beta. Google wave is going to take over the world, it will be the new communication method of the decade. It will combine email, IM, blogging, social networking all into a gooey ball of awesomeness. Its power is in the API which will allow developers to create widgets, like the google translate widget which allows two people who don’t speak the same language to communicate. Google wave also provides the ability to drag and drop files directly into a browser window, which currently only work if you have google gears installed, but they are working to make a part of the HTML 5 spec.

Good night and take it easy!

Week 4: Test 1 and other fun!

Hey,

This week we had are first test. The test was a little different then I was expecting. There were no output questions, Also I was a little thrown off by the first 3 questions. All in all it wasn’t that bad, the coding problems were easy enough.

I spent most of the weekend getting ready for the ECAC EXPO. Also I have been working on a LC-3b simulator for EE 360n.

I have run out stuff to say! take it easy and good night.
