The 2010-2011 Student Regent Application is now available on the SG website.  The Governor of Texas appoints one student from The University of Texas System to serve as a nonvoting member of The University of Texas System Board of Regents. 

 

On October 13th, SG had their first “Mix at 6.”  It was a time for any students who wanted to learn more about student government and get more involved to mingle with the Executive Board, Representatives, and Agency Directors.  SG wants to thank the Co-Directors of Membership Coordination for all of their hard work in planning the event.

 

October 15th and 16th the on and Off Housing Hosted Block Parties that included free food and trivia with the UTPD.  SG wants to thank the on and Off Housing Agency Co-Directors for their diligent work during these events. 

 

Legislative Update: 

Ø  AB 5 and AR 18 Approved: Last week, AB 5 and AR 18 were passed by the SG Assembly and then signed by President O’Rourke.

§  AB 5: Changes to Internal Rules—External Affairs. Author: The External Affairs Committee

o   Passed by the Assembly with Unanimous Consent

§  AR 18: In Support of the City of Austin Divesting from the Fayette Power Project. Authors: University-wide Representative Melessa Rodriguez (melessardz@gmail.com), Liberal Arts Representative Andy Jones (ajones2010@gmail.com), and Campus Environmental Center Director Rachel Aitkens (raitkens724@mail.utexas.edu).

·         Passed by the Assembly with a Majority Voice Vote

 

Ø  AB 7 and AR 16 Approved:  AB 7 and AR 16 were passed by the SG Assembly and then signed by President O’Rourke.
