Thank you for 2011, happy holidays, and Hook ’em Horns

As 2011 draws to a close, I want to say thank you to alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and students – everyone in the Longhorn family who supported The University of Texas this year in its quest to become the best public research university in the nation. While 2011 likely will be remembered for its many challenges, I will remember it as the year we saw all of our major constituencies unite in support of advancing this institution to the top of American public higher education.

The end of the calendar year is fitting time to look back at just a few of the things the University has achieved, and I’d like to share this retrospective of some impressive accomplishments from the last 12 months, as our faculty and students continued to push the frontiers of knowledge, service, and higher education.

Thank you for your support in 2011, have a wonderful holiday season, and Hook ’em Horns!
