Will the Internet Drive us to Nihilism?
September 30, 2010 | by Ravi Thakral | Tagged Continental Philosophy, Existentialism, Hubert Dreyfus, Internet, Nihilism | 2 Comments
This week in UPA we’re reading the conclusion of Hubert Dreyfus’s book On the Internet. His conclusion builds to the idea that the internet will drive us all to Nihilism! This distinguished professor is a member of the UC Berkely faculty. His specific interest in the philosophy is existentialism. To find out why Dreyfus would make such a bold claim about the internet, read the attatched file. We’ll be meeting to discuss this reading in GAR 0.128 this Friday at 4:30. If there’s one thing you shouldn’t do, it’s miss this meeting to play WOW! You could be driven into Nihilism!!
See you Friday philosophers,
Ravi and Will
