GIS Intern

GrantWorks, the largest grant writing and management firm in Texas, is seeking a part-time GIS Intern from July 2 to Nov. 30, 2012 to work in its Planning Services Division. The intern will develop mapping products for comprehensive plans and government funding applications for clients throughout rural Texas.
The temporary position will include working in a team environment with company Planners and GIS Analysts to develop lot and block, land use, zoning, and infrastructure maps as part of Comprehensive Plans. In addition, the intern will develop Census maps needed for funding applications.
Candidate should possess a strong working knowledge of ArcGIS 10.0 and GIS methodology. Specifically, the candidate should have knowledge and expertise of ArcGIS methodology, geographic, and cartographic principles, and comprehension of projections, datums and coordinate systems. Experience with editing and working within geodatabases, as well as experience retrieving Census data for GIS analysis, a plus.
GrantWorks offers a relaxed work environment in central Austin. It is expected that the position will require 15 to 20 hours per week with hours fluctuating occasionally. Salary: $15/hour. Benefits are not available for this position.
