Empathy, Understanding, and The Great Depression

When you experience both understanding and empathy from fifth graders, it is a beautiful thing. Our study of The Great Depression and Dust Bowl Era recently provided just such an experience. Through opportunities for reading, writing, listening and speaking, my students communicated their learning in a variety of creative ways.
